Words can kill

slain by the words you said!
a slug in the back of my head

they stab the soul like edged knives
they pierce through unsuspecting hearts
they come like thunder and lightning !
strike you down with pain so haunting

it freezes your blood like burning ice
who then deserves to pay such price!?

hurting words could kill...
may we all speak to heal...

It is like the saying 'The pen is mightier than the sword' This also means that words can have a greater effect than muscle. Words used in a thoughtless manner can have long reaching effects on the person who the words are directed at.
The other saying ' Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never harm me' is really not true as names or words can cause more harm than a beating ever could.

I understand the feelings I get after I have said some things out of anger especially when I know that I was wrong for saying them. Most of the time it goes away but there are a few things in my past that I still remember that do haunt me when I think about them.It is better sometimes to learn about something than to speak out of turn and criticize something out of ignorance, because you can cause a lot of pain for nothing. Overcoming fears by learning the truths will free you and make you a better person and give you the skills to heal.

Yeah, words do have power. Hypnosis casts a spell just as much as Gregorian chant and terms of endearment. Emotions imbue poems with power. But otherwise, words don't break no bones

Ive read a few of your poems and I like the stuff you write...they tend do be alittle depressing and this one is no different but lately Ive been into things that seem to have angst and pain as a theme...i don't know maybe its just a mood ive been in lately but in any case, I like this one.

I think so. As far as I can tell it is pretty much sayig think before you speak. Confirming the old adage "if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all".

Yeah, it's saying that we need to say words that help people, lift them up, rather than run them down.
