Because of their youth, they have very limited experience to draw from--and very limited ability to process what they HAVE experienced; it's still a nebulous cloud of thoughts, ideas, feelings, that will form into something cohesive later and hopefully give them a more knowledge- AND cognitive-based way to process future situations as they mature.

because we're young, and we don't have many experiences to look back on & learn from. we need to make those mistakes now, that's what adolescence is for; making mistake after mistake until you finally learn from it. that's when you can say you've grown up and matured.
