Halfway to renovated....wall to wall torn out revealing 50 year old linoleum, which (because of a wall taken down to make two smaller rooms into one bigger one) has two different colours--deep forest green on the southern half, and dirty beige on the northern half.

Faux beams in the northern half of the room, with strips of thin plywood used as illusions of wall supports below them. Also fake wood wainscotting on the lower half of the wall--cheap imitation Bavarian look in other words. Southern half of the room has piss yellow walls with real plaster moulding trim around the ceiling/wall connection.

Oh, and since the diningroom table used to be centered in the northern part of the room, there is an old wooden chandelier hanging down in the middle of the room...had to place a heavy coffee table directly under it so no one would walk into the thing.

And let's not even talk about the partial wall that was left hanging down about a foot between the two "old rooms" and made to look like another beam with woodgrain SHELF PAPER, "held up" by faux brick "columns" glued to the walls on each side of the room....

This is what happens when you leave a cheapskate MALE with the job of renovation.

First of all, we have vertical blinds thoughout our townhouse.
We have beige carpeting throughout, except for the kitchen
and hall and entry and 1& 1/2 baths. We add color in paintings by husband on the walls, and some American Indian
wall hangers. We have serape like throws on the couch and
colorful horse pictures on couch pillows. Our furniture is in
brown leather and dark green leather, with an oak entertain-
ment center and two shelving units for a video collection. And
we have an oak floor lamp with a round table and a native
American drum lamp providing another Indian accent to
carry out our western theme. I hope this gives you more of
an image mentally than you had before. Some of us do have
themes we use in decorating. I have used a Spanish theme,
and a previous western theme, and one that was reflecting
jungle animals and of course, there was always, "early marr-
iage when we were young. But always, I strived for comfort.
As that is the most important thing in addition to sight appeal.

A rich cream carpet and walls. One wall is all glass with a nice view, so its left uncovered. The furniture is a deep brown suede sofa and chairs, and a lighter teak coffee table , book case, and unit for the television. The highlight of the room is a full-sized banana tree which grows right up to the ceiling , with its leaves hanging down gracefully . I love it. On every horizontal surface, are framed photographs of our families and friends, all in different frames that I've collected over the years. Two paintings on the walls - both of the river which runs outside our place, both painted by a friend of ours. Its our favorite room.

Three walls painted aqua, third long wall white wallpaper with aqua, dark peach ferns. The trim is all white. Picture window has dark beige fabric verticals. Carpet is light brown. The couch and chair, light brown. There is an autumn scene painting that has all the same colours and sort of ties it all together. It is supposed to be a LR/DR combo .but we just have a chinacabinet at one end and at the side wall we have our computer table and a window above it with turquoise drapes.

My living room: light blond bamboo floors; two area rugs - one beige with a Zebra rug atop. One accent wall in Claret Red and drapes which match covering the doors that lead to the sunroom. The other walls are cream. Muted mustard colored 'old world' sofa and cream side chair. Pewter metal tables with tightly woven wicker tops. Lots of plants and a pewter and glass modern open etagere with many of my travel pieces on the shelves. A Thai rubbing over the 32" TV...and a rattan and wicker screen that is just outside the foyer leading to the living room. Cat hair on the cream chair! lol

Large entertainment center for large tv. Antique table beside sofa, from my mother. Lots of windows, with semi-sheer white curtains. Ceiling is 11 ft. Double french doors leading onto back porch.
