- what benefits are there if the camshafts were upgraded from the stock unit to a high performance unit?

- what shortcomings will there be? (example, increase in petrol consumption?)

hope to know more ....thank you..

generally high performance camshafts increase high rpm engine performance howerver depending on the cam some may increase the low end performance.... just depends on the camshaft... most camshaft manufacturers will ask what you expect or want performance wise and will make a recommendation.... as a general rule of thumb tho if you increase the higher rpm you tend to sacrifice fuel economy and vice versa... hope this clears it up for ya

the factory cam is a compromise for fuel mileage and torque ,horsepower and emissions control.
Perfomance can be interprited in several ways.
one being the best speed in a given distance or time
two being the best use of fuel consumpsion for a given amount of fuel
three the most amount of work performed in a given amount of time
etc.

Some cams will save you gas only if your pulling something,
as in comparrison to the stock cam pulling something.
Thats as much as I could honestly say.
