Will the Patriots lose the 1st round pick they got from the 49ers (potentially the 5th pick) because of the "cheating" scandal? Or will they lose the first round pick that they will earn after winning the Super Bowl (potentially the 32nd pick)?

The Patriots will lose their own draft if they make the playoffs because of the scandal. If don't make the playoffs they will lose their second and third picks. No matter what they will keep the 49ers pick. Living here in the S.F Bay Area this pick has become a nice topic on the sportstalk airwaves.

at the beginning, the commish ought to have mentioned they lose the utmost of their first around alternatives. that could calm all and sundry down. yet in fact the Pats won't use the 49ers %.. they'll commerce right down to previous due 1st around and get extra alternatives. Bellicheat is clever...he won't waste the 49ers %. on a real 5 bust. The Pats do no longer want superstars...they want good protective linemen and linebackers that are youthful.

The answer is the New England Patriots will forfeit there original 2008 first round draft pick. When this was announced it was stated New England would forfeit its 1st round pick not the one acquired from San Francisco. That is San Francisco's pick not New England's so they will lose they're pick for the first round not the one acquired from San Francisco.

they will only lose the new england pick, where ever that may be in the draft. its fairly certain however that they will still have a high draft pick seeing how they will have the 49ers first pick. it only proves the theory when crap has a value, the poor will be born without buttholes.

GOOD QUESTION! I have no answer, but I will say that which ever one they lose, they should trade the other one to get more picks and even out the draft. They draft well anyway, so losing a first round pick isn't as bad as it sounds.

ESPN has reported that they will lose the NE pick and not the pick they obtained from SF. Therefore, if they win the SB, it will be pick No. 32.
