Most of my friends have a small or medium business and employ at least 20 or more people, some over 150. We have discussed this many times. They all are of the same mind. If Labor get in and intend to change the IR laws, everyone of them will be scaling down and getting rid of any staff that are not absolutely necessary. Just in my small social circle, that means at least 150 jobs will be lost. So you have to ask yourself, will you be the one who gets back some of your benefits or will you be the one out of work??? Think carefully. This is not Political propaganda, its not my opinion, it is actual fact and believe me, you might not like people who are well off but we pay a lot of wages and that supports a lot of families. If Labor get in, we will all be culling staff.

Firstly Big Raymond you are so anti Liberal I feel that your personal comment are un kind.

Yes I have heard that as well, I run a small business as well. I do not have work place agreements in my business, my staff get paid above award wages, my problem is I keep advertising but I cant find staff, why is that ? is it because it is a commercial and domestic cleaning company ? I guess there are a lot of people out there that just don't want to do that sort of work , or it could mean that under the Liberal govt everyone is employed

Reading your question is fascinating your group pay a lot of wages to people that you employ that is good,

And when you say it is not a plolitical , then why did you mention a political Party by name, by doing that you have made it a political question.

The last part you have made it a choice of in this question , That If Labour gets in you will all be culling staff, what did the staff do deserve that.

Do the staff that are employed deserve that because of a change of government, alright you may have be talking this amongst your group about the IR laws. nothing wrong with that.

But also remember that of company or where will it be without any employees.

Can your group do all the work by yourselves

What good are all these jobs that have supposedly been created (which I dispute - the unemployment figures are not a real indicator of employment rates) when you can't earn a living wage? The only reason that MORE jobs would be possible is that greedy and unethical employers, which there is no shortage of, can employ twice the amount of people at half the cost! How is that good for the people who work for a living??
Your Liberal scaremongering and desperate tactics are getting sooooo old - give it up.

I'm glad that at least some people can see that the Coalition's campaign is simply scaremongering. Ok, so perhaps some people will lose their jobs. But why is that? Is that because people are being paid less under the AWAs and employers can afford to employ more people for less pay? That's certainly what it sounds like to me. Is that really a good reason to keep the Coalition? Vote for the Coalition - more jobs - but get paid less! Yeah, I can see why business people don't want Labor to get in, but fortunately there are more employees in this country than employers.

Ooooh, is that a threat to add to the irrational fear campaign?

I'd like to see people try to run their businesses when they don't have enough staff because they sacked them all in retaliation to IR laws being corrected and made fair again... lol!
Maybe when your business fails because you sacked your staff you'll be grateful for Workchoices being ditched when you're back in the workforce and are desperate for secure and properly paid employment and the mutual respect that goes with it.

People in business will still have to employ people to operate and increase productivity gains, and some will just have to accept that paying people less is not a get rich quick scheme. Don't worry, cheeky. You'll find other work where hopefully your longer term casual work will entitle you to some of the security of permanent part time status.

Click you don't tell us why You and your Friends will be scaling down your workforces. Is it just sour grapes that your "team" didn't get up? Are you going to sack them out of pure spite if so I feel sorry for you. Is this a threat. Why did you employ them in the first place you must of needed them to do the job. Who will do the work once you have culled them ?There probably better of not working for someone like you any way.

so what you are saying is you are employing people right now just cos you can, not because you need them and on the basis that you can give them the flick at any time without any regard for their livelyhoods. You only have these people employed part time or casually probably with stuff all rights under workchoices. You dont deserve to be in business, you are a nasty business person with the same attitude toward your fellow human as what howard has, only the wealthy deserve a good life, that is your real opinion. shame on you and your friends!

well considering the Howard Government has done absolutely buggar all in regards to taking care of the agricultural Industry in regards to climate change ... you have to wonder .. HOW MANY BLOODY JOBS that is going to cost ???

Have a look at what is taking place in areas like the Goulburn Valley..

It isn't ALWAYS about the mighty dollar ... there are other issues which affect industries and businesses.. BUT some people just can't see because they are greedy

EDIT: add to the Goulburn Valley , The Riverina :

It's about time someone threw this in, I have heard the same thing from several people. I am a Casual worker and our boss has already spoken to us, he was very shifty in his talk but reading between the lines, I'm out (along with about 15 others). He blames it on the quiet period after christmas but the ones that have an AWA (which can't be changd for 5 years) have all been told their jobs are safe. Tell me how else that could read.

Oh, and Rudens, don't stick you head in the sand like so many others, ask as many bosses, (not workers) as you can and you will find this is no joke. If you dont like Howard, fair enough but if you vote Labor, you are helping me lose my job....

So what do you realize how many people lost their jobs when the IR laws kicked in I was one of them along with many others.
Business owners have to pay their workers what they are worth and it seems to me the ones you talking about are ripping them off because of these laws.
Also do you realize how many angry people like me are out there who have been affected by these IR laws just waiting for the chance to vote Labour in.
