Here's a link to California Department of Motor Vehicles that you will find very helpful:

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/newtoca/newtoca.htm

Essentially it will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about what you need to do when you move to California.

The bottom line is that as long as your car is registed and emission compliant in another State you can bring it into California and register it with no problem.

the problems are for California residents who purchase vehicles outside of the state and then want to register them in California. Otherwise, if you are a resident of Ohio and have a vehicle that is registered in Ohio you can bring the car into California and register it here without doing anything abnormal.

Hope that answers your questions

Hondas are the cleanest burning cars out there. It will pass the actual test but they'll fail you because you need the smog devices required by California- which means, you'll fail the visual inspection. Check with the California DMV for more information.

Most newer cars have the emissions tag on the underside of the hood. Check there to see if it is CA emissions equipped.
