I knew what Jesus went through for us was brutal, but this movie made it more real than ever before. I definitely cried when I watched it in the movie theater.
The cinematography was beautifully done - I heard it referred to as the movie version of a Caravaggio painting.
It was a real experience to watch and one I wouldn't have missed for the world.

interest performs (plural) have been uncomplicated interior the middle a while, and because few human beings spoke Latin, the language of the Bible, they have been many times adorned alongside with areas from hymns and classic ideals. Even after the translation of the Bible into uncomplicated language, that they had non-Biblical aspects extra in them. the main famous version is the Oberammergau interest Play, which became quite antisemitic. It has considering that been edited to be much less so. It lasts 7 hours alongside with a lunch smash. i've got no longer considered Mel Gibson's action picture, yet while it includes classic aspects from interest performs, that's the place the distinctive antisemitism could come from.

I heard that Pope John Paul II was asked to watch it before the premiere, and he was moved by the movie.
Personally I think it's the only film that best captured the events leading to Christ's crucifixion.
And it best humanized Jesus that no other film has yet achieved.

It's as if Gibson is measuring God's love by the amount of blood he shows on the screen.

After watching it, it really made me appreciate the gifts that God has given me. I could not watch it more than once because I cried too much when I seen it the first time. :-(

great movie. i didnt think i'd like it since it was in aramaic and you basically had to READ the movie. but still it was amazing. very emotional. gibson is a hell of a director. the scene where they were whipping him just killed me.
