OK

The diagonal of a square with bisect the 90 degree angle forming two congruent triangles with 45 degree angles.

The standard 45, 45, 90 triangle has sides in the proportion of 1,1, sqrt2.

So if the diagonal is 14, each of the sides are equal and

x^2 + x^2 = 14^2
2x^2 = 196
x^2 = 98
x = sqrt 98
x = 7 sqrt2

So the side = 7sqrt2

Hope that helps.

if a square has a side of length 1, the diagonal has a length 2^(1/2) aka square root of 2.

i'll leave the math to you.

For a square,

Diagonal = Side multiplied by square root of 2 (approx 1.414)

Hence, Side = Diagonal divided by 1.414

So 14/1.414 gives you 9.90099009900....
