Not 100% sure what you mean...if it's what I'm thinking (a short flexible section of the exhaust system, usaully close to the engine that allows it to "torque" without stressing the exhaust pipe), it is sometimes called a "flex coupler."

If that's not at all what you are talking about, give us a better description.

In front of converter=head pipe, header pipe, front exhaust pipe.
