Yeah I used to be. I didnt know how to start conversations. I didnt know what they would think about me.
Now I still dont meet that many new people everyday but Im less shy and more indifferent and dont care to meet new people, and that may have been the reason for me being shy all along......

basicly, yes.
A lot of it came from the utter meanness of some kids. I always just minded my own buisiness, but some kids found their pleasure from attacking me and other not so popular kids, for no reason, other than they knew we we unsure of ourselves. I have grown to like myself, and know I am just as worthy as anyone, though. So, I am still a quiet person, but I wont take any crap from anyone anymore.
Growing to 6'3" and about 240 has helped in that respect, tho..
I would rather be shy and unpopular than mean and rotten like those other kids, tho

I'm always shy around new people at work. I don't know why, I just get uncomfortable around them. It usually takes me about 2 or3 days to start talking to them. They usually respond with,"Oh, I just thought you were a b***h." After that, they come to realize that that is the ONLY time I'm EVER shy.

Yep. I grew up not being around lots of people. I just need to learn how to communicate with others better that's all. It can be learned like anything else.

Not really, I don't like crowded social situations but I have been in sales for years and can just go up and talk to strangers with no problem.

Yes. I blame it on braces. I used to have bad teeth, and never wanted to open my mouth. Now that I have braces, I don't want anyone to notice them. (Braces in college just doesn't seem cool.) So I still tend to keep my mouth shut, and am shy because of it.
