Each year i have to buy a new calanderand the world still functions enough to produce another one. Seeing that the Mayan calander cycle covers the period 3113 BC to 2012 which would save me buying 5125 calanders. The web source does say this,
"Yes, this is the end of time. It is also the end of the world as we know it. But, that does not mean destruction. It simply means that we are preparing to birth a new world in which we can live and love in peace, harmony and goodwill for all."

No subculture expected the tip of our existence on that day. No, however this is a date of enormous medical and cosmic magnitude, and people who write if off likely have not studied the date, however i might desire to declare no subculture outrightly expected the tip of the international in this present day. December 21, 2012 is the day that we will finished an exceedingly uncommon image voltaic alignment, an alignment 26,000 years interior the making to be good, the place our Earth would be rapidly aligned with the solar and the Milky way Galaxy. this might create electro magnetic skill, and hence image voltaic flares, like we've not considered in cutting-edge situations. maximum suitable case subject we can in basic terms have minor skill issues in a constrained scope. image voltaic flares do not choose an alignment to reason electric powered issues, the final time this befell grew to become into in 1988, however back, it is not something while in comparison with the form which will ensue in 2012. those opportunities are medical actuality, besides to those, there are various theories approximately different issues that could ensue with the enormous quantity of skill flowing via our image voltaic device, yet back, hypothesis, however some is predicated on data, we've by no potential considered this alignment take place, so we will not be beneficial. The unusual factor is is that cutting-edge scientists have in basic terms found out approximately this alignment interior the final one hundred years, yet not in basic terms the Maya, yet countless different historic cultures, have been already prepared of this date a million,500 years in the past. How they found out this innovations with out using recent technologies is rather confusing, yet i don't opt to take a position. the main confusing whether, is the classic chinese language calender, relationship back approximately so a techniques as something we've in existence, around 5,000 years, which while broken down, additionally factors to the coolest date. those circulate a techniques previous the realm of accident, yet i'm not a superstitious guy. however I do recognize, after learn (something it style of feels maximum folk do not locate important), that it is an exciting date, as does many of the medical community, i can not make any guesses as to what ought to probably, or might probably ensue. This date has not something in common with Y2K,which grew to become into the effect of common misconceptions, not any data.

The Mayan prediction is about global earthquakes and a hero character/architect helping to rebuild the cities and civilization (see the complete details about Quetzalcoatl).

The Mayan cosmo-genesis theories by many crazy people across the planet seem more steeped in their own ideas and random psychological interpretations than what the codecs actually say.

And the codecs picture of a great flood is not to be taken literally but figuratively as a flood of rebirth. Just like when a mother gives birth there is a flood of life giving fluids. Mayan's used ancient metaphorical pictograph's and mythological storytelling to describe history. It has to be taken with a grain of salt and worked over with all the details before you before you can get a clue as to what it means.

Sorry to explain away some of the more fascinating details but it's just historical anthropology.

21 December 2012. Just the latest in a long line of dates when the world (as we know it) is going to end. 1000AD, 1666, 1841 etc etc etc etc etc etc. Generally this is based on some ancient load of drivel like Revelation. This time it is apparently the calendar of the Mayas, whose civilisation was so clever it included ritual bloodletting to propitiate the gods. It seems the Mayan astronomers ran out of numbers, or something like that. Be sure to have a packet of sandwiches ready before you head for the hills.

Seriously, this is just a load of codswallop promoted by frauds to sell books to suckers or because they just can't stop lying.

The answer to your question is a resounding NO.

don't be silly. Why would it? Did you see some silly program on the History Channel and actually BELIEVE it? Are you honestly that gullible? Look around you, at adults preferably. Do they seem to think the world is coming to an end? Well maybe they will if they purchased too big of a home, but annihilation is different from foreclosure.

It's possible, but doubtful.

The idea comes from the Mayan calendar, which used base 20 mathematics, counting days from their belief of the date of creation ~Aug 3114 BC, which according to their calendar was 12.19.19.17.19. During the day of 12/20/2012, the Mayan calendar would read 12.19.19.17.19 again.

It's more a new age belief that a new era of creation will begin at this time, and that said creation will happen after a massive cataclysm and destruction event. It's possible something could happen, but I wouldn't put too much stock in it.

It didn't end on 01/01/01 and it won't end on 12/21/12 unless some idiot starts WW3. We do have some challenges that will cause great difficulty, not only global warming but bees are dying. They pollenate the flowers for seeds that we need to grow food. This is serious and immediate.

Do we have any idiots in office now?

Only for you if you kill yourself before that date to avoid "the misery of the end". What really worries me about all the people asking this bullshit here is that some might actually do it.

i don't think the world can tell time, so it won't know to end just because the calendar has a crazy number on it. we made up those numbers and the calandar anyway!
