Iron ores contain oxides such as iron(3) oxides (Fe2O3). IN a blast furnace, the iron ore is made into iron metal by heating it with carbon monoxide. Carbon Dioxide is the toher product. Write a balanced equation for this reaction. How much carbon monoxide is required to produce 504 gram of iron metal.( step by step guide please)

Fe2O3 + CO ----> Fe + CO2
Balance it
Fe2O3 + 3CO ----> 2Fe + 3CO2

From balanced equation, 3 part of CO is required to produce 2 part of pure Iron (Fe).
Mol of Fe = 504/56
= 9 mol

(9 x 3)/2
=13.5mol of CO.

i suppose u know how to change to volume and mass yourself

A reaction:

Fe2O3 + 3CO -> 2Fe + 3 CO2
From this reaction, 3 moles of CO are needed to produce 2 g-atoms of Fe. So, you can convert 504 grams of Fe to g-atoms by dividing by the atomic weight of Fe. Then the moles of CO will be 3/2 as many, and from the number you compute, you can multiply by the mole wt of CO to get the mass.
