Manners and everyone - no matter how deep it may be - has some good in them.

I've learned far to many meaningful things to narrow them down to one.......To understand everything that I'd ever been taught was wrong; to think outside of the mainstream. To live life in the present. To not take things personal, even when they are meant to be.

St. Augustine, from his Confessions ….

"Our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee, O Lord"

This statement has a meaning that is as profound as anything I have ever read. It is an observation about the makeup of human nature, and how we were created.

The human soul was created in such a way that our heart longs, or is restless -- it longs for meaning and fulfillment. That is why our heart "hurts" or "aches"… so to speak. It's a restless longing -- for God. We can somewhat fulfill this longing by doing things in life (they fulfill us somewhat) and/or distracting ourselves. So we can temporarily forget about this longing but we can never be completely fulfilled by the things of this earth. Our final destiny is to be in heaven with God for eternity --and our restlessness will only be completely fulfilled there. Only the infinite grace of God can completely fulfill and satisfy that longing or restlessness of the soul, that restlessness that causes our soul to "hurt" or "ache".

This means the physical distractions and pleasures we experience here on earth only amount to temporary distractions and partial fulfillment. Suppose you have a nice tasty piece of Black Forest Cake. It tastes wonderful and satisfies you, brings you pleasure and appetite fulfillment. But suppose you ate Black Forest Cake 3 times a day for 3 months, and this was your only food. By the end of 3 months you would be so sick of Black Forest Cake you wouldn't want to see another piece for a long time. Why? This points to the fact that even the best things in life can only bring us a temporary pleasure, distraction, or satisfaction -- we can grow tired of them.

We see these Hollywood stars on TV, party, take drugs, spend huge amounts of money on the finest things -- but they never seem fulfilled. So it becomes more partying, more alcohol, more, more, … more of whatever as they try and seek satisfaction, and until they maybe hit the point of self-destruction. Contrast that with monks in a monastery that seek God first and foremost -- they seem very happy and content even while living a very austere lifestyle.

Always look on the bright side of life.
When you have nothing, you have nothing to lose, so what is there to worry about. Even losing something can be a good thing in that sense.
life's a piece of sh*t when you look at it. life's a laugh and death's a joke.

Maybe not the most meaningful, but definately the most TRUTHFUL, it's all about WHO you know, NOT WHAT you know.

learn to think for yourself, and when you think, think critically.

also, be sure to turn your brain off at 5 if you have a 9 to 5 job, your life will be more enjoyable, and that's what it's all about.

We are loved individually by our Heavenly Father. He cares about our struggles, is proud of our accomplishments and wants what is best for us, just like any other father.

Look at both sides, think, then decide. Understanding is the first step toward wisdom.

No matter how smart you are, no matter how big you are, no matter how cool you are, no matter how funny you are (etc etc etc), there is always someone that is smarter than you etc etc etc

Which means stay humble...
