Washington DC, November 8 (CNA).-Pat Robertson, televangelist and founder of the Christian Coalition, on Wednesday endorsed the socially liberal Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani.

"It is my pleasure to announce my support for America's Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, a proven leader who is not afraid of what lies ahead and who will cast a hopeful vision for all Americans," Robertson said during a news conference with Giuliani in Washington.

Giuliani, former mayor of New York, supports abortion rights and homosexual rights despite the Republican Party's official stands against such issues.

Robertson, who made an unsuccessful presidential bid in 1988, is also the founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network, the Christian Coalition and Regent University. Shortly after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Robertson claimed in a statement that the attacks occurred because Americans had insulted God and lost the protection of heaven by "allowing abortion and rampant internet pornography."

Robertson did not mention his differences with Giuliani on social issues in Wednesday's statement.

Being endorsed by Pat Robertson is like being endorsed by a lunatic. Robertson is a failing old man that believes that Jesus is coming and everyone but him, his particular 'real born agains', 44,000 Jews and a first round draft choice is going to make the cut. If Rudy had any sense he'd stay away from those people, because once you get in bed with fanatics they want a major piece of you and if you screw 'em they'll come after you. What motivated Robertson to step so far outside his comfort zone and suck up to Rudy is anyone's guess...maybe Rudy made a side deal with them that if elected he won't stand in the way of the US government #$%^ing over the women of our country, and bringing down the hammer on those nasty gays. Rudy brings nothing good to the office of the president....has he spoken up in favor of the American wage-earner? Not once...that tells you something!

Every single person who says "I hate Pat Robertson" is going to vote for Hillary no matter what, so their opinions are irrelevant on this issue.

In my opinion, Pat did this in order to stop a split of the Republican vote. A worst-case scenario would be a repeat of the 1992 election, where Bill Clinton got elected with slightly less than 50% of the vote because Ross Perot split conservatives.

Pat Robertson didn't support Rudy Giuliani, he just supported the (currently) strongest non-Democratic front runner, which is a good strategy for any conservative.

maybe Pat Robertson's endorsement is definitely undesirable information for the religious ideal (RR). Giuliani's positions are so a procedures from the positions claimed with the aid of the RR that one has to question the sincerity of those standard positions. added, by using fact the endorsement will look so irrelevant and inconsistent interior the RR it may well be divisive and fragment this political block. i would be unable to even speculate as to what Roberson is as much as - yet of course it somewhat is to no longer added the anti-abortion anti gay marriage he has been claiming. economic hobbies?

You are wrong about former Mayor Giuliani....he doesn't support those rights. It is a winning situation here. And, Pat Robertson is right about God. So, the rest of you can just rest assured that he will be a great President!

Let people vote for the right person, the one they want to vote for, for the reasons that they believe in....not some gossip you heard last night at the bar.

Robertson's support of Rudy tells me that he doesn't think very highly of the other candidates, both parties.

Robertson must be developing some kind of cerebral disfunction.

I think Giuliani's accepting of it was quite reckless.
Now he's associated with Robertson, a man who claimed 9/11 was God's wrath over abortion and pornography in our country.

I think Robertson's going senile. He should have endorsed Huckabee, who at least has all of the same values.

I think its the best news Hillary Clinton has heard all day.

The endorsement of Pat Robertson is like an endorsement from George Bush - the "KISS OF DEATH".
