Because right now, he is doing a terrible job. Against the Falcons on Sunday, he decided to kick a field goal rather than go for the touchdown on 4th & Goal.

Mike Nolan is doing a great job. The 49ers would be explosive if they wouldn't lose coordinator after coordinator. For a team that is rebuilding they sure have been pumping out the coordinators. The defense is looking very good (especially compared to last year), the offense is horrendous and right now Alex Smith is looking like a bust. The problem isn't within Mike Nolan, but mainly in the offensive coordinator. Doesn't seem to understand how to utilize the talent he has on the team.

Why should they have gone for it on fourth and goal? They got nowhere on two attempts and then the third they lost yardage. It would be different if they were inches away and the offense actually produced, but with knowing that the offense is way out of whack and needing a hard three yards, it would of been a bad call.

I'm a diehard 49er fan and I love what Nolan is doing for the franchise. If anyone that needs to be let go is either Hostler or the GM.

convinced, he must be exceeded through the end of the season if this dropping maintains. i'm a 49ers fan and theory the 49ers can make the playoffs with an invaluable list. Even at 2-6 SF nonetheless has a threat to win the NFC West as they are purely 2 video games again of Seattle and Arizona. yet in case you observed the Atlanta interest, SF had 4th and objective on the ATL 3 contained in the 4th quarter and the score 17-13. MIKE NOLAN ELECTED to flow for the field objective! I propose you want 3 YARDS or perhaps if you do not CONVERT YOU again UP ATLANTA DEEP of their own TERRITORY. The 49ers moved the ball so properly on that pressure. With the switched over FG, the 49ers were trailing through 1 and gave Atlanta the momentum. Mike Nolan is the most conservative coach contained in the NFL. you won't be able to be conservative each and each and every time you play. How do you win if you're conservative too a lot? employ Marty Schottenheimer as head coach for next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days.

Fire Nolan? That makes as much sense as some people in Cincinnati wanting to can Marv Lewis... none.

Remember what the 49ers were like before Nolan, and after the salary cap? Let's just say they were as close to a Super Bowl as the Toronto Blue Jays are to the World Series. Don't fire a man that, before crucial injuries, actually started to make the 49ers relevant again.

Wait until Alex Smith gets healthy, and they get a little more help at WR. They'll take the NFC West in another year.

No. Mike Nolan is a good coach, he just got delt a REALLY bad hand this year with injuries. I'd say give him one more year and they should be really good next year w/ Frank Gore and Alex Smith. Every coach makes a bad call every once in a while, even Wade Phillips, he just hasn't been put in that position yet cause his team is so good. If they don't go to the post season next year, then I would say fire him. If they do end up firing Mike Nolan this year I would say they were making a HUGE mistake.

No way. He's got a good head on his shoulders. I think he's a good coach.

Just wait until January when Norv Turner gets fired by the Chargers and comes whining to get his job back as offensive coordinator. Norv is a horrible head coach, but he's always done well as an offensive coordinator.

But this is coming from a guy who thought it was a horrible idea to fire Mooch and an even worse idea to hire Ericson. I still cringe to think that fool was associated with my team... EVER!

What would've happened if there was no touchdown? Many times on short yard plays, they get stopped before taking a step past the line. That was a smart move to get some points on the board.

why?? Cause the team sucks in the weakest division in the league?? Sure, every time the team loses its the coaches fault and not the players, organization, or due to injuries.
