That would be great. You could go to school for 12 extra years to become a doctor then prostitute yourself at night, because your paid the same as the guy who picks up your garbage.

I'm not certain what Cuba's immigration policy is, but I suspect you could find out. As we have no diplomatic relationship with Cuba you'd have to go to Mexico or Canada to speak to someone at their embassy. Considering that Cuba in the next several years will begin a drastic and more open change, being on the ground floor of that change might be an excellent investment of your time. After Fidel and his brother Raul finally leave office the entire form of government and economics of that country will change...if you're up for a gamble, who knows? It might be worth a shot!

My question is if Cuba is such a wonderful place, why are people trying to sneak over to Florida in droves? My old boss is Cuban and still has relatives there which he is allowed to visit. I asked him specifically about their much vaunted medical system there. He told me that their medical system was about the only thing Castro did right over there. Everything is rationed and the people there depend on relatives living abroad to survive. The average person lives in poverty, something the government will not allow the tourists to see. Castro has seperate facilities for the average Cuban citizen and tourists/high level government employees.
Move there. When you do, see if you can e-mail us and get on the internet to chat with us and tell us how it is. I'll stay in the US thank you.

Hahahaha well... I appreciate the sentiment, Cuba being a Communist nation... but uhhh....
Well from a political standpoint I'd say "if you feel that Communist Cuba is a better nation that would better suit you than think about it long and hard"....
From a personal standpoint I'd say "only if you like having free health care but living in a shack in the middle of a dirty overcrowded city..."

Sure. Go for it! Renounce all the propaganda on how the US is the best place in the world to live. This was the case possibly ten years ago. However, we have since moved ourselves down the ladder economically, medically, educationally, and culturally. At this rate, Cuba's standard of living may exceed ours in a few years. You may as well get an early investment there.

There might be some boats that washed up on the shore in Florida that you could use. I understand they came from Cuba and can travel both ways. Have a good trip and send me a post card.
