I would safely assume that it is you who feels "selfish". People are merely mirrors showing you who you really are. Did you know that?

On that same token, the things you really like about people are actually things you really like about yourself.

Examine yourself for a moment. Tell me if there are times when you have felt selfish or had a selfish thought about something? I think we're all selfish to some degree, but for some it could be a trait in us that we REALLY don't like about ourselves. So, when we see it in others, we really hate it! And we think it's about them when it is really all about US!!!!!

The more selfish you are, the more people will ask you for things, for money, for favors, for your time, etc. If you can let go of it, you will notice it less and less.

I would say b/c u have a cynical view. If you stop for about 5 seconds, you will understand that not EVERYONE is selfish. If you want to talk intelligently about why MANY people appear selfish, then we can do that.

A couple of reasons. Self preservation requires a certain amount of self awareness and self serving behavior. There is nothing wrong with this, so long as it is not one's only behavior.
Too, one tends to see what one expects to see. If you hold the opinion that everyone is selfish, then when you see what you perceive as selfish behavior, you say "aha, I was right."
If you don't see what you consider selfishness, you stay in default mode, looking and waiting for the next selfish act, so you can go, "aha" again.
The question becomes, "Are you happy this way?" If not, you can choose to change your outlook and expectations. If you expect kindness, you will see more kindness. If you expect deceit, you will see more deceit. Selfishness, kindness, and deceit will not go away if you are not looking for it. Good and bad actions are all around us each everyday. You choose which ones you are going to focus on and which ones to model for you own life.

Everyone in the world appears selfish, simply enough, because we have become a very materialistic people since we first put a value upon things. Once we began to understand the process of valuing things, people wanted more items, and therefore, more value to themselves.

It seems rather funny now, doesn't it? Ages ago, the only value was determined by the bartering system, with people buying and selling their trades and stock for a mutually beneficial agreement. Now, we spend weeks or months on end searching for the person who is willing to undercut the most on the bid for completing the job.

We have become materialistic in our nature, and it does show prominently now. Even many regions of the poorest nations have gained hints of that materialistic greed, all in hopes of moving out of the simple life, and becoming another part of the larger conundrum that mankind has created for itself.

How can you say that about everyone when you hardly know only a few of them? It's the basic nature of all humans to be self centered(selfish) and be concerned about others after his/her needs are taken care of.So far there isn't anything wrong but when one crosses the limits,it becomes obvious. It's the greed one should guard against as if affects others adversely.

the situation has to do with the fact that the internet has develop into any such gadget that regrettably, authentic comments don't count number as a lot anymore. while it consists of running a blog and the internet, there are various that take issues thank you to fairly. running a blog might nicely be an incredible thank you to get your concepts available, however the internet has had the situation of alongside with people who do no longer take too kindly to any authentic comments with authentic strategies. as a replace those bloggers who're as you assert "egocentric" merely supply ear to those comments that are biased to their own opinion or they do away with evaluations that don't experience up with what they themselves have self assurance. the different situation is, the internet is so open that it enables any person to be all and sundry that they does not usually be in authentic existence. So their authentic colorings come out even in running a blog. So with running a blog i think of many do have super evaluations, yet regrettably the best is hidden at the back of those that have nasty, impolite, or merely non clever comments. no longer all bloggers are this type, yet I comprehend the place you're coming from.

Because most people are. And what's scary, is that we really wouldn't notice selfishness if we didn't have some of it already. I noticed this. The more selfishness I saw in other people, later I realized, I had become more selfish, which is why I saw it so vividly in others.

I'm sure there are plenty of answers for this one. My first thought would be ......I feel that perhaps we have forgotten to be nice to one another. I come from the old school of making it a point to say "hello" to people. A simple greet and a smile has been lost.

Instead, we demand and complain. That's probably why I Iike to watch old movies. People seem to have more respect for eachother in the "olden" days~

Our basic fears are the legacy mapped in our DNA inherited from our forefathers who are animals. This sense of fear and insecurity are the reasons why we are cynical and selfish.
