While it is true that both Debbie Allen and Phylicia Rashad are biological sisters, Vanessa Del Rio is not related to those two.
Phylicia and Debbie Allen have an African/Spanish heritage, which they got from their dentist father Arthur Allen and Pulitzer-prize nominee mother Vivan Ayers .
Vanessa Del Rio, however, is of mixed Puerto Rican and Cuban descent. The common traits all three women share is that they all are fluent in Spanish and they each share the passion of being professional entertainers.
More specifically, Phylicia Rashad is two years older than Debbie Allen, and they both were born in Houston, Texas in 1948 and 1950 respectively. Vanessa Del Rio, who was born in Harlem, New York in March 1952 is the youngest of the three.
In parting, both sisters were married to professional athletes at one time. Phylica to ex. Minnesota Vikings player, Ahmad Rashad from (December 1985 - February 2001). Debbie Allen has been married to former Los Angeles Laker Norm Nixon from (April 1984 - present).

Debbie Allen and Phylicia Rashad are both sisters, they are not related to Vanessa Del Rio.
Vanessa Del Rio has a Spanish/Black background while Phylicia Rashad and her sister Debbie Allen don't. While growing up Phylicia Rashad and Debbie Allen spent a year in Mexico where they learned Spanish.
Vanessa Del Rio's real name is Ana Maria Sanchez and she is of Cuban and Puerto Rican background.

Phylicia Rashad is her only sister and I am glad about that because the Claire Huxtable character made Phylicia a decent way of living whereas Vanessa Del Rio, well you know!lol!
