What kind of grade point average does it take to get into a U.C.?

Just curious...it seems to vary with the campuses, by research.

I'll be a transfer student with a 4.0...what'll that get me?

4.17? I was thinking about Berkeley for Grad. school...geeze.

It depends what school you want to go to and what your major is. Some schools have their general GPA requirements for transfer and that can be different than the GPA requirements for the major. Check out assist.org to see what specific requirements are if your are transferring from a CA community college. If you are transferring from out of state, GPA requirements are higher.

Check with the campuses that you are interested in applying to. The couselor at the community college may not be as informed as the actual college you want to attend.

it varies quite a bit. considering weighted GPAs (extra credit for honors and AP courses) it ranges from 4.17 @ berkeley to 3.56 at Merced.

these are just the average though. there are GPAs below the average, so, for example, you could get into berkeley with a 3.8.

it just depends on your other application factors: sat scores, extra curriculars, essay.

Don't know what you mean by " UC". Depending on the college or university minimum GPA vary considerably. Many colleges look to SAT scores in addition to GPA. Many look to SAT,GPA and extra cirricular activities as the hallmark for entrance. Then some must have connections through Alumni to get in. Suggest you do your very best. Aim for the highest Have other options for lesser known schools and GOOD LUCK!!

When I asked that question of my Community College advisor a few years ago, he said a 2.75 would get me into any State school. That info may have changed, so ask an advisor to be sure, but statistically, that's supposed to be the upper third of all college students. Pretty sad, really, but it is what it is.
