I'm not sure why you're having trouble. I have downloaded and paid for a SP once (and once only I wouldn't do it again) and I'm in the UK. There was no problem with it EXCEPT that it installed another bloody loader programme (EA Link it's called) onto my computer which means that the game would contact home (via the Internet) before it would run. So no turning off your modem and turning off your antivirus to make the game run better plus it's a sort of spyware. If the dedicated site is down, the game won't run plus if something goes wrong, you have to download it again so you can reinstall.

Personally, I think you're better buying the game and have the physical disk in your hand. But you can buy online from EA without problems - they're very keen for you to do it. Maybe try the UK version of the sims site?

EA's website is the only place you can LEGALLY purchase and download the games, although I'm sure if you look around at other download sites, you should find them.

I'd recommend though, rather than downloading the games, go to a store, or order the games online, and just install with the included disk(s) when you get your games. Installing a game with a disk can and usually is, easier than downloading and installing the game off the internet. Especially with the EA Downloader...a lot of people report issues with the downloading program.
