If you are talking about vinyl records, there are still plenty of pressing plants in operation around the world (the sales of vinyl have actually increased over the last 5 years - contrary to all predictions...).

They are multi-million pound operations though - you can't press a vinyl record at home, the same way you can burn a CD. Getting a record cut is a very expensive business.

Also, you cannot re-record onto vinyl. Once it has been cut, it is permanent.
