I am having a garage sale this Saturday. I will be selling A LOT of gift bags, varying in size - probably close to 100 of them. Any ideas on how I could display them? If I lay them on the table, they would be hard to see, and if I hang them on a rope or pole or something, people would have to remove all gift bags to get to the one they want...

Also, how much would you pay for
1. a very high-tech but non-digital camera
2. an AM/FM radio (no area for CD's or casettes)
3. a 90's portable CD player with headphones (but no AM/FM radio)

Thanks!

Try setting some of the bags up on like boxes so they are at varying heights, lay some flat, if you have a lot of the same kinds maybe have boxes with the extras in it and then just have 1 or 2 sitting out.
You also could have some hanging from a string but just use clothes pins to hang them so people could un-clip the 1 they wanted.

I'd pay up 2 $100 -$120 dollars for the camera depending on its age.. as well as what came with it. Because I've found I get better pics with a non digital camera. I'm in 4H so good pictures are essential come fair time lol. :)
For the radio maybe $30 depending on age again.
And the CD player maybe $10 because its older and you can get them that cheap at like Wal-Mart.

I really hope that helped! if you need anymore help with ideas just email me! I'd be glad to help!

If you are trying to sell stuff so that people can buy, you should put it in a place where the first thing you look at is that. Have it display it where it would draw attention. And about the pricing on the items:
1.$10-15
2.$5
3.$3-5

Remember: don't go so low on the price til a few hours after you opened up.

As the Queen of Garage Sales I can tell you this:

If it's worth anything sell it on ebay or in the newspaper.

People have no respect at garage sales and think for some reason you should take any amount they offer no matter how insulting or ridiculous it is!

I actually had a quarter on something at my garage sale and a lady asked me if I would take a dime for it. Thinking she only had a dime, I said yes. She handed me a dollar to brake for the 10 cent item.

I can't believe people steal from garage sales too!

I told my husband, If one more person insults me by asking for a ridiculously low price on something, I'm going to hand them a dollar, because they must really need it. I could personally deliver it to their house and hey.. why not give them gas money..after all they DID grace me with their presence at my sale!

Being a garage sale, you are not going to get much for these items as they are not big ticket items. People go to garage sales searching for bargains.

As for the gift bags, just group them together by size, then lump them together by color. You don't have to display all of them because if someone buys them, they will usually ask if you have more or you could tell them you have more and then put them out. It's called working your stock.

The best way to find prices is to look on the internet for the same items and then lower the price because your items are used. You could also check craigslist.com and see what others are asking for similar used items. If you have a clothesline, or can put one up, you could hang the gift bags (empty ones?) up with clothespins. or you could just clip them to a cord with paper clips. to avoid a lot of little sales, you could sell the gift bags in bunches.

A good garage sale rule of thumb is to take the retail price and cut it in half. That is the top value of your item. Negotiate. Be willing to talk to people.

As for featuring your gift bags, are they empty or full? If they are empty, you could string a clothesline and hang them with clothespins. If they are filled, I would set up a table with them sitting on top and around the table grouped by what is in them. Good luck!

less than five bucks for 2 and 3. Camera sell for 20-80 dollars depending on how high tech it really is. ALso check on ebay for some guideline prices for camera. Secret to all garage sales is to have a couple of really cool items or furniture items. This attracts people so they will buy the rest of your crap. Usually good to price the cool stuff high so they don't sell right away and then you don't sell any crap.

Also, if after a few hours you just want to get rid of the junk, have a big sign saying: Everything HALF PRICE after 1:00 pm etc.

I always have a FREE BOX in front and throw various things in it throughout the day if it looks like I'm going to be stuck with them. Some people will end up taking the entire free box.
