Over the last year or so I have noticed a small "squishy" lump right above my ankle on my lower leg. It is about 1 inch long, squishy feeling, and doesn't hurt to touch. I recently went to my physician and after taking an x-ray he said that he was not sure what it was, and is having me scheduled for an MRI. Also, nearly two years ago I took a rough fall in which my ankle took a hard bump (not sure if it is related). There really isn't any pain in my leg, but there is a discomfort feeling. Any idea what this could be? My physician told me that he was confident it was nothing bad, but I am a bit nervous.

Probably a bone spur or calcium deposit.
You were smart having a physican check it out.
Better safe than sorry.

This could be something as benign as a small abscess under the skin, a small cyst of some kind to something more serious. It is good to go ahead with the MRI so that you have an answer. Then, if you find it is nothing serious, you will not have to think about it or worry any more.
