Depends upon where you are...
In the most general terms, it is the opposite direction from
the direction in which things travel when dropped (assuming there is some kind of gravity where you are).
Were you to be floating free in deep outer space, the concept of "up" might be meaningless.

Do you see the planes in the sky? That's up. Unless of course your in space. Then it becomes a mute point. Cause there's no up, down, or sideways in space.

Any direction that is away from the centre of gravity.
