Your coach has no business encouraging you to masturbate - he has really over-stepped his bounds - actually very inappropriate. It's not that it's wrong (masturbation), but unless he is a sex-ed teacher and is there to inform you according to curriculum, he is out of line discussing something this personal with you guys. I caution you to steer clear of him especially alone in the locker room.
As for the darker skin - no, they are feeding you a line of bull. Some guys have lighter skin or darker skin - that is how things will work out all over your body. Have you ever noticed that there can be a big difference in the color of guys nipples as well? Your skin can get darker (all over) as you get older, so I imagine the penis can as well.

I am a female and of course don't have a penis, but I've been in a relationship for YEARS!! I beg to differ with whoever told you that the more you have sex the darker your penis becomes. I have never heard such a thing.

actually, it will not grow darker.. but the pinkish color of the head of your penis will gradually be decreased once you started being active. It's like the deeper pink it is.. the fresher it is.. hehe if you know what i mean..
