Hmm good question

True happiness is like a mirage. You seem to go towards it and when you are near it vanishes.

Now the answer can be easily derived from the question - How will you be happy?

Now a lot of factors will make you happy right? And these factors which make you happy is very dynamic in nature.

for example,
Today i am happy cose i have a job at hand and good grades and peaceful life. In future the same things need not govern how happy i am.

And also its us who define our parameters of happiness.

SO the bottomline is
You do achieve a sense of true happiness which is not so true since the perception changes with time. In other words its periodic in nature.

"Is there really such a thing as true happiness?"

Yes!

"Can one really achieve this, without the use of drugs?"

Absolutely!
(Chemical 'highs' have nothing to do with true joy!)

"HOW does one achieve true happiness?":

1. Think of Your Spiritual Needs
2. Keep your Life Simple
3. Develop Healthy Self-Worth
4. Embrace Real Hope--It is Vital to Happiness

A person needs to learn what God Himself says that his purposes are, & how to fit into them. This includes learning what principled love is (agape), and learning to develop it for themself, & others. This also involves learning why they should appreciate the True God & what his actual plans are. To do so, one must concentrate on what He Himself says about these, rather than what people or groups (even religious) SAY that he either says, or, means by what he says. There are MYRIADS of ideas & beliefs that are Entirely Contrary to what God Himself has said. Christ himself warned about this! So, one needs to make a thorough investigation of God's Own Word, the Bible.

this is a paradoxical question. its really difficult to achieve true happiness if you go searching for it but really very simple if you dont look for it. Reason: Happiness is a state of mind. If you feel that you have everything you wanted - you are happy. which means you wont search for it as you already have it - so you will be happy. If you feel that you are missing something in life, you will go searching for it - and be unhappy. Even if you find what you are looking for - meaning you are a normal human and thrive on challenges - you will find something else to search for and be ever unhappy.

My advise : Be unhappy and search - you might be happy that you atleast tried instead of being content that you were happy with what you had. :) Hope that makes sense.

True happiness is some thing like seeing the God in front of You.
See doing a service with out expecting remuneration and feeling the best satisfaction each other and ever so many other actions of humanity is the way for true happiness.

There is only one way to gain true happiness and that is through the blood of Jesus Christ. Seriously, think about it. Whenever you think you find that one thing that will bring you "true happiness" you end up forgetting about it and wanting something else. But, living for Christ is something that you will never lose, forget about, or have taken from you. It's far more precious than absolutely anything you will ever find on this earth. I can guaratee it. Just try talking to your pastor or other another Christian friend about Christianity and what it really means. What do you have to lose? Looking into it and researching it won't hurt a thing. And don't think of it as a blind leap because there is a ton of evidence for the Christian faith. Just look into it. That is the only way to true happiness.

While some may say that it is like searching for a pin in a haystack, I strongly feel that it is purely a state of mind. You'll find some of the poorest families of the world smiling & laughing & taking everything in their stride, while some folks living in the lap of luxury constantly frowning, cribbing & cursing life.
Live everyday as a new day & try helping others - that is true happiness!

yes, there is. to achieve this, first one should understand what life really is! life involves both joy and sorrow. none to be taken either positively or negatively. both to be taken neutrally. once that is possible by any person, such people always enjoy the bliss.

Happiness is the state of mind. There is only one method to achieve happiness. To develop contentment.

My rule has always been, "fake it, until you make it." If you don't feel happy, try to be; with all your might and eventually you can achieve it in your life. If not forever, possibly momentarily, because in these moments they create impressions on our soul that teach us how to cope when happiness is all but lost and gives us the ability to return to that state again, because we know it is more than just a concept but a tangile concept.

Only you know what is true. By following yourself, you will find the way to truth, the way to happiness. Just don't fall or limit yourself. Use no way as way, no limitation as limitation. Do not trap yourself into monotony. Be free and fluid, shapeless like water so you can become the shape of anything.
