will there be a continuation? i heard somewhere that there were 2 more stories 1 where humans battle for the moon and meet a new alien race and the 2nd story is when humans strike back and are on mars. is this true

Wells did not write any sequels, but other authors have.

"Within six weeks of the novel's original 1897 magazine serialisation, the New York Journal American began running a sequel, Edison's Conquest of Mars by Garrett P. Serviss, about an Earth counter-attack against the Martians, led by Thomas Edison.

Eric Brown wrote a short story, "Ulla, Ulla" (2002) about an expedition to Mars, finding the truth behind H.G. Wells' novel.

In the novel W. G. Grace's Last Case by Willie Rushton, W. G. Grace and Doctor Watson avert a second Martian invasion by attacking the Martian fleet on the far side of the moon with "bombs" containing influenza germs.

Manly and Wade Wellman wrote Sherlock Holmes' War of the Worlds which describes Sherlock Holmes's adventures during the Martian occupation of London."

however

there was in the 1980's a sequel of sorts.

It was based on the one i think made in 1950's

the main scientist was Robert Foster, and in the story he rescues a kid and ends up adopting him.

after the aliens were dead, many were hidden and the whole story covered up. three of the alien ships (in this case they flew) were put in Area 51.

A lot of the bodies were put in barrels filled with bacteria, and put in storage areas.

now 1980's

a terrorist group breaks into a storage facility and shoots the place up, unaware of whats in the cans.

when bacteria flows out of the cans, the aliens awaken from a bacteria induced coma (not death)

but they cant live in our atmosphere and must find a way to NOT breathe our air. So they do a Puppet master type war, taking over human bodies.

meanwhile the kid has grown up and discovers what is going on. He along with a paleontologist, a computer wiz, and a colonel who is very reluctant to believe what is going on, first stop the aliens from obtaining and using their ships and then begin what became a 2 season tv series.
