Unfortuantely there is someone with a ton of cards stored in their garage or storage facility that include cards from the 1980s > present day. Cards were simply over produced during the late 80s and early 90s. So the largest collection probably doesn't include the finest collection or most expensive collection. The Library of Congress does have a nice vintage collection of tobacco cards but it would not be considered the largest nor the most expensive. There are private collectors in the US today with 25k plus vintage (pre 1950) cards. Those collections are the most coveted in the hobby.

nicely. it is a great question. i assumed mine returned interior the day grew to become into great, at around 20000.. Barry Halper had the biggest baseball memorbilia series. beginning up in September, Sotheby's will furnish hundreds of a lot from Halper's series. it is a series that has been 50 years interior the making. The approximate breakdown is mindboggling: a million,000 uniforms, a million,800 baseballs, 4 hundred bats, 4,000 pictures, 30,000 baseball taking part in cards and an decision of contracts, rings, pins and gloves. i could wager countless the sport taking part in cards shops can rival the cardboard length. tried to goggle it and extremely have been given no longer the place. i could threat a wager that the biggest could be interior the 50000 to a hundred thousand variety assuming they have accumulated alot. once you spot an public sale for the excellent duper rares, like Honus Wagner, you are able to wager those persons have a effective series. no longer inevitably taking part in cards, yet, memorabilia

Everybody that started collecting in the late 80's early 90's has a huge collection. They hung on to their collection thinking it would increase in value, but so many people did this that the value ended up going down. If I would have sold my card 15 years ago, I would have 10 times more the value If I were to sell them today. I'll probaly hold on to them for 20 years, but think of how many people are doing the same. The value probaly will not go up unfortunatley.
