That is an opossum. They are marsupials, like a kangaroo. Very cool animals! I rescued an orphaned opossum a couple years ago and he was so fun. I was a bit teary when I released the little cutie.
They are attracted to dog food, cat food, and human food, so make sure you don't leave that outside, or you'll get more visitors of that kind.
Be nice to him, he won't hurt you. And surprisingly, because of their low body temperature, rabies is very rarely seen in them!

That's a possum. The eyes reflect red because they're dilated to see in the dark. If he's scared he will pass out and 'play possum' until danger passes. Watch out for those teeth, they can bite.

it's a 'possum. They are scavangers and will get into your trash, eat your dog or cats food if left outside. If cornered they can become very mean. Just in case you're interested they're also marsupials. The only ones native to the US.

It looks like a possum. So cute! I don't think they have red eyes though, (but maybe) it could have been a reflection.

It's a possum...and they eyes aren't naturally red, they just look that way because of how they reflect light.

Its an opposum. They are nocturnal animals (only come out at night). If they get spooked they'll pretend they're dead (its a defense mechanism). Don't worry its not out to get you ...if anything its more afraid of you than you are of it. It was just probably looking for some food.
