I live in a neighborhood where it will sometimes smell like an open sewer. Sometimes the air outside becomes very pungent and it is nowhere near a treatment plant. I keep my windows closed, but it still comes in through the vents.

How do I at least combat the smell? It is about to make me sick.

I would track down the source. That is a health hazard and there are air quality laws that someone (including the city) may be breaking.

Do you live in town with a proper sewer system? If you do... I'd complain to the city.

I suggest contacting your local Health Dept and make a complaint. There is nothing you can do to cover up that scent...
