I'm looking for a film, can anyone help with the title?

Anyone remember a film from the mid-seventies about a little black boy in the ghetto who befriends a cat? And everyday after school he hangs with this little black and white cat. And one day he comes home from school but can't find the cat, he finds him dead in an abandoned refrigerator in courtyard. Anyone know the film? I don't know if it was the afterschool special, or the movie of the week. Can anyone help?

Yes the 1st answer is correct I saw that movie years back!!!!!

I'm pretty sure the movie you're looking for is called "J.T."

It was a made for TV movie from 1969.
