The DVD will start and go to like the rating and then when the movie is about to start it it says Media Player encountered a problem and needs to close..

that could be that your windows media files could be corrupt.
Your best would be to reinstall media player u can get a free download of the latest version on this microsoft site http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/default.aspx

click the pointer decrease than library and extra ideas.click plug ins then audio and look for plug is on the information superhighway.The website it takes you to would have DFX on the top of the record.It.s the only loose one and is okay.Tick the sq. as quickly as on.First click initiate administration panel and Sounds and Audio and make certain that's no longer on mute.

re-install windows media by downloading it from microsoft.com

Try to reboot your computer. If this doesn't work, then you should call your companies computer (dell, hp etc).
