why do you want me to leave?

I tell them, "I had a great time, so we must do this again some time in the near future (only if it were true). I really need to get the kids to bed now, as it's past their bedtime & they won't willingly go with company in the house. Even if they did go, they would sneak back down & try to stay up with the grownups - it's a no-win situation. Tomorrow morning will be another early morning exercise in futility as it is, as we'll be running out the door to do A, B, & C. So, is there anything else I can get you before U go?"

It can be hard with some people. I have a couple of friends who I invite for dinner occasionally. I enjoy entertaining but
I kid you not when I say they would stay until dawn if I let them.

I tried putting a clock in the dining room. It did not help. I yawn, sigh, talk about how tired I am, etc. Nothing.

Now, I just tell then it is late and I am going to have to go to bed soon, or something like that.

With some people, no hint is going to work.

The centred visitor isn't the challenge right here. the challenge is between you and your husband. This "buddy" doesn't be a topic if: a million) You and your husband were in contract on what the living house regulations are, what he must be paying if something (is he a centred visitor or a tenant?), even if he's authorized there once you're out of city or no longer, and so on.; and 2) Your husband were guy sufficient to inform his buddy what the regulations/obstacles are if he ought to favor to stay. So...the first element that desires to take position right that is you and your husband favor to AGREE on the regulations and expectancies for habit. Then the subsequent element that desires to take position is your HUSBAND desires to inform his buddy. And your husband desires to kick the guy out if he's unwilling to conform. in case your husband won't be able to/received't do those products, then you've were given an excellent more suitable challenge than this "centred visitor" for the subsequent ten days.

I usually try hints like yawning or looking at the clock. If that doesn't work, I might act like I'm falling asleep. If they are a good friend, I tell them I am going to bed, lock the door when you leave or take your shoes off before you sleep on the couch.

BODY LANGUAGE IS YOUR FRIEND. Make tones in your voice that make you sound like you're done conversating. Phycologicaly lead them to the door, tell them you've had a good time but... You've got to do something or be somehwere etc. You appreciate them stopping by or whatever. It's all psychological man!

GET LOST!!!!

Honestly, I just told that to 2 of my brother's friends - it's 3,30 am and they are a bit drunk... I don't really mind that, but - one of them (who is married, by the way, & has a kid), called his girlfriend and started insulting her & yelling over the phone!?!?! After that he was laughing ?!?!?! - I really can't stand that kind of violent behaviour & went there and told my brother that his friends R the worst he could choose, that noone is perfect but these R way way lower than even normal!! & I told them that I don't want them in our house!!!

Just yawn a lot, and keep mentioning how early you need to wake up in the morning. If that doesn't work sic the dogs on them.

Pick them up by the scruff of their neck, open door, toss. Works every time.

Stand up and say thanks for coming over, I've got an early day tomorrow, or I have some errands to run...and get their coat or open the front door.

I use, "Well, I hate to kick you out, but I have to get up pretty early so I'm going to have to call it a night."

Or I point my shotgun at them.

Both work.
