I have to cook a Turkey and then transport it 45 minutes. Should I cook it completely, or leave it somewhat under done and finish it when I get to my desitination. Has anyone ever done this? What is the best way to keep the bird juicy.

Be sure to cook it fully!!!!! It won`t cool to much if you leave it in the roasting pan. Stick it back in the oven when you get there.

Cook it fully before you leave (white meat is done at about 160 degrees, dark meat at 172). Then, drain off the drippings & put into a container to make gravy when you get to your destination, and wrap the bird in several layers of aluminum foil. It should stay hot until you get to your destination.

If you are afraid of traffic causing you to arrive late, you can put the wrapped turkey in a cooler, and heat a few bricks to put in the bottom. This will keep everything warmer longer.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Cook it fully before you leave; getting the internal temperature of the bird back to the requisite temperature would take a LOT of time.
