Why does everyone hate us Americans so much? I dont understand, I mean I can understand if you dislike a certain american person for a certain reason, say if they did or said something to you, but why judge all of us by what one person did? I hear all the time "oh shes an American, she must be a obnoxious loud mouth!" or "ughh an American, I wonder what stupid remarks we are going to hear this time" etc etc. I just dont understand why we are so hated. It really isnt the best feeling in the world when you are looking on youtube or on yahoo answers and you come across several people stomping out your country like it was a burning bag of horse crap. I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad or blame anyone, but I do love my country and I will stick up for it. Please if you hate americans, or if you know why people hate us, please tell me!! I am just looking for a reasonable answer. Thanks!! :)

in my experience you meet jackasses in the US and outside the US, they are everywhere. A lot of the people who travel overseas do so because they are more comfortable overseas, and then a lot travel because they have the money. I've realized that most Americans don't realize how much is taken for granted and none of them are afraid to be vocal. This definitely gives them the obnoxious stereotype, no one wants to hear how bad their country is and how much better another one is (even if it's true, which is most often NOT the case.)
America is not the best country in the world, that's blind nationalism speaking for you from people who do not think for themselves and who can't see past the end of their noses. Every country has it really good points, good points, neutral points, bad points, and really bad points. Pretty much they are all just different and if you are lucky you can find one you like and go there.
Those who like to stomp on the US, btw, generally have things wrong with their own country, they all have their own problems. Just be a good representation of your country, that will do more to change people's minds than anything.

In my experience, its generally the case that people who hate Americans are the ones who have never been to the States. If you only have American travellers to go off of, then yeah, you're probably going to have a skewed view of Americans. The idiots who have the time and money to travel are the ones who perpetrate the stereotype of the slack-jawed American who throws their money around and wonders why nobody's speaking English. People in other lands see these jackasses and assume you must all be this way. I personally feel the reality couldn't be further from this stereotype, but then, I've lived in the States for nearly a decade now. It might be colouring my perspective.

Americans are arrogant. You don't go to France and demand a French person to speak to you in English. Come on! Americans are seen as bullies and war mongers.
