What are some fun cities to go to in Conneticut or Maine?

I am writing a story and we travel a lot. I want to know some good cities to go to in Connecticut, or, Maine, or the east coast.

Connecticut- Mystic, New Haven, Hartford

Bridgeport or New Haven in Connecticut. In Maine probably Bangor or Portland. Some other cities are DC, Chicago, Orlando, Atlanta, and colonial Virginia.
