I believe that there are 3 levels of thought process. First; The reactive: Stop for red, go for green, be Baptist because that's what daddy was. If it was good enough for mom, it's good enough for me. Most people are in this category. Really, not much above an animals thinking.
Secondly; The Literal, Logical thinker: It follows that if "A" is there then "B" can't be far behind. These are people whom imagination is only a concept without reality. And as mathematical as this type of thought process sounds, the people who think this way, very rarely understand cause and effect. Examples are Lawyers, absolutely without conception of the long term effects of what they do.
Thirdly; Matrix thinkers: People whom think in terms of inter-relationships. People who have trained their minds to grasp those situations and experiences that seemingly have nothing in common, and are able to see the connections. These are people who do not believe in coincidence. They are problem solvers. And you will find with these folks, a great diversity in their life's education, training and adventures.

When I see a question asked so formally, I have to wonder if the person asking is doing this for homework/research.
Diversity training builds skill building because it forces a person to learn how to accept and respect others for their individuality and their beliefs.
The company I work at is very diverse. And we love to hire people from all cultures. Just in my building alone, we have people from the US, Canada, Korea, Vietnam, China, England, Australia, India, and Thailand (plus some others that I'm not sure what country they are from). But what makes it neat is the ability to learn about the cultures and to learn that certain things we do and accept in our own country are not universal to all other cultures.
For instance, here in the US, we expect immediate results in a meeting. We're one of the few cultures with this mindset. Most other cultures have a meeting to discuss and then adjourn to do research and consider what is presented. They then get together at a later time and want consensus from everyone before proceeding. Which is the right way? It all depends upon your perspective..

The world is changing. Run a stock quote on international funds. China and India are also burning up oil at an alarming pace. You need to think 'global' to be able to sell to anywhere on the planet, and learn to respect other cultures. As Americans, most of us are ignorant, learning to speak only one language. Ask someone from Europe how many languages they speak.

If one is aware of the differences in people, one is able to train and learn different ways to address their needs and desires. If one learns another's values, one can learn many ways to get things done.
