My guess would be animals passing by or other people who either don't care about the tradition, or are too hungry to worry about it. (But, in my experience it's mostly animals and insects.)

I am kind of curious to know why this ended up in the Pets section.. especially under Fish..

I'm a Chinese and by tradition we offer food on the altar for the Gods and our dead relatives. After the offering, we take the food and eat it ourselves. Of course, to Christians, this is a no-no, as offerings to other gods or the dead is against their doctrines.

I didn't know any cultures in the U.S. or England offered food to the dead. If they started offering money, that would be a problem.
