This might sound rediculous, but is it possible for it to be carrying some kind of negative energy in it...I know nobody died on it, but I can imagine there was intense grieving done on it...

If you believe that it carries negative energy, then it does, the fact that you are asking means that part of you feels that way, dwelling on it will be a waste of time, I suggest that you do something that you feel will cleanse it, or rid it of the negativity, there are lots of private rituals you can do at home that people swear by.

One I can think of off hand is a ritual that comes from the native Americans, they use sage sticks, it is basically a bundle of herbs that can be burned that they say rid the negative energy's/entity's.

It's all in your mindset. Instead of thinking of the grieving that might have happened on the loveseat, think about how it held people in comfort, security and safety in their time of need. Now it can do the same for you. It can be your little island of comfort when you are in need.

Nope. You're fine.

Consider that the atoms forming your body are totally replaced every X years. Those atoms were previously part of lamps, chickens, cars, other bodies, murder-weapons, etc.

None of the energy associated with the things your current atoms were a part of before they were part of you came along for the ride. The "energy" of an object is entirely in your head. If the thing creeps you out, get it reupholstered in a more lively color.

I don't like to think of grieving as always being negative. It's a necessary part of life to grieve. Just relax on that love seat.

Theoretically negative energy could be ingrained in the furniture and flow out causing unrest in your home but think of the families which have consoled each other on that sofa and the love it must have absorbed.

It may have also gave comfort to the greiving. I guess it all depends on how you look at it.
