I'm from Houston, and I'm a real baseball fan, and i think Houston got the better end of the deal. Not that Eric Bruntlett was a bad player, i actually thought he could start and throw up decent numbers while solidifying the defensive infield. We get some speed, and essentially, some relief help in our rotation. At the same time, we get rid of Brad Lidge. It was time. He has suffered the past couple seasons, and so have we. I'm so happy for him that he can get another chance, and at our chances to start over with another closer.

As a phillies fan, I view this trade as a steal for Houston. The phils pulled the trigger on a trade that was very lopsided against them. After watching michael bourn all of last season I can say that he has incredible speed. He made shane victorino look slow. Not only that he plays superb defense and in Houston would be a very good outfielder with such an expansive outfield. Geary is a decent reliever, but his main problem is he is extremely erratic. When he is on he can be lights out, but when he is bad it will be over a few games and he has trouble getting out of slumps. And the least talked about part is Costanzo, who has put up pretty decent numbers in the minor league and could contribute to the astros. Lidge on the other hand has been extremely inconsistent the past few years and if you add himi to an already inconsistent bullpen I pray that the phils can put up big leads when their starters leave the game.

The Phillies have a habit of picking up others peoples unwanted players. Not saying they aren't good players, but we always trade away our youth within the Division no less.

I hope Lidge is going to pay off, Bourn is a up and coming star in the league. Only time will tell if it was a good move or another bone head move on the Phillies behalf.

I think it's a better deal for Houston. Lidge may or may not be good next year and Bruntlett is a utility guy. The Astros get three young guys that they can build a team around.

I think the Phillies must not think that highly of Michael Bourn if they dealt him for an ultra-shakable, inconsistent reliever. I know he has awesome speed and a decent enough bat, but with Rowand likely gone, it really makes me wonder if the Phillies knew something that we don't.

Could be good for both teams, but it depends on what else Houston does. For some reason, they wanted to move Hunter Pence out of center field to right, so they got that done. The key is what they do with their closer spot. It doesn't look like it is going to go to anyone they have currently, so we'll see what else they do this offseason.

It quite concerns what you go with. Upton has harm issues already, and Lidge could be good. in case you quite need an OF and velocity, and you have 3 different good closers, i could do it. in case you have a good OF, adequate velocity, and choose the saves, do no longer do it.
