In response to S. Gordon this is not just an abstract thought because there are thousands of photos, witnesses and still survivors to attest to its authenticity and reality. Those who choose to revise history based upon personal prejudice may some day find themselves at the wrong end of the finger pointing to them in judgment. There is a saying which states that I watched as they took my neighbor away and did nothing. This is my paraphrase but in the end they came to take him away and no one was left to protest. This is exactly what happened to those sent to death camps while Hitler was in power. No one tried to stop the atrocities. There are many more examples of this type of treatment in other parts of the world, for example, Argentina and los desaparecidos (the disappeared) who were never heard from again. Think carefully about what you choose to believe and repeat. It could come back to haunt you.

I'm a history student and have a lecturer who denies the Holocaust (plus many other things) ever happened. I have no idea how anyone can say that. It's ridiculous as well as offensive. I guess some people have a really weird way of thinking!

It's weird but true, some deny the Holocaust. It is a tactic inclined to create suspicion, doubt and in general, ill will toward the recipient. Some laugh it off but it can lead to trouble. If enough people keep the lie alive, younger generations will take it as truth.
BTW-my father liberated several concentration camps as the Allies closed in.

Anyone can deny it, if they don't know or care how utterly stupid it will make them look.

But it takes a special case among these - the kind that is intolerant too, and has a weak-minded antipathy towards Jews himself, and who denies it because racists know the rest of us won't follow their lead while we're still leery of what we could end up doing to each other....

Part of the problem is that history is abstract. A lot of history is a matter of perspective. Did Columbus discover the New World or did the Natives discover Europeans?

If one is brought up in an environment where they are taught that something like the Holocaust didn't happen. They go home and their parents say it didn't happen. On TV they say it didn't happen. Then eventually one will believe that it didn't happen.

Well you know I am Palestinian and I don't deny Holocaust.
Arabs say everything opposite to what the Jews say. You should get used to them. Let them say whatever they want, who will listen to them?. Just ignore them. All what they know is cooking and selling food.
