If there is less acorns on the ground, there is probably more squirrels in the trees. We have a lot and they are big this year. The squirrels are really busy. Does that mean a lot of snow this year? Maybe. Could be that we had a good growing season for acorns.

I'll be interested to know. We haven't any acorns this year. The leaves came on the trees twice and that affected the acorn crop. We are having a mild, dry Autumn.

I don't know, but around here when we went for a drive and walk around, we didn't see a single acorn under the oak trees....really strange. I'll let you know how our winter turns out.

Not necessarily.
Less acorns = bigger squirrel hoards
Until you figure out what goes on in a squirrel's head, I'm afraid it's not true nor false.

more old wives tales!, another is if you see robins before winter it will snow, if its going to snow, it will snow, or we have some very greedy squirrels, they eat acorns, and bury them.
