There was a court case about 5 years ago that said that it is perfectly legal for a parent to have their child kidnapped, forcibly removed from the country and sent to a foreign school or treatment facility.
I don't know if that was overturned though.

Both my brothers were sent to military school before they were in their teens...and I was sent to boarding school for a few years. None of us enjoyed our experiences, but it didn't hurt us either.
And yes, as long as the child is a minor, parents can do pretty much what they want to do.

I was sent to a military school against my will, long ago. (My big brother was a troublemaker, so they sent both of us). I did not think I had any options, and back then, I probably didn't. I'm not sure it's much better now.
We didn't send any of our 4 children to military school, but I think we could have if we felt strongly enough about it.
