I honestly don't know what the score ranges are exactly, but I do know that they are ranked according to the same grade guidelines as actual high school grades. For college admission purposes or for jobs, it is equivalent to a high school diploma from a student with no extra-curriculars, with whatever grade range the 800 is matched to.

A GED is adequate in comparison to a hs diploma. You can always explain to any potential employer that your circumstances were such that you couldnt graduate. Many employers see a GED as something better than a diploma because it shows that you do finish what you start and in my experience GED earners work harder than HS graduates. Its harder to pass a GED than to graduate. Your main concern, however, should be where do I go from here. The largest demographic of people is comprised of people who have never graduated (or havent graduated yet). The second largest demo consists of graduates. Next is people who have earned an associate degree in college. The trend continues upwards and the point is the higher educational level you reach puts you in the company of fewer people giving you a better chance at getting a chance. Statistics also show that the more education a person has the more potential salary they will make over the course of their lives.

I think just passing it is as good as a high school diploma. For jobs or college they have never asked me for the score that I've gotten. But that's just my experience.
