I'm in the states, however, I've seen nice aquariums for sale in your area at car boot sales!

No guarantees, but try either Craigslist (http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/gb ) or Freecycle (http://www.freecycle.org/group/UK/ ) listings in your area. The first is like a local online "classifieds" and the second lists only things that people are giving away (and you can't get cheaper than that!). Just make sure any tank you pick up will hold water and any equipment that comes with it is in working order (if you're interested in this as well). It may pay to look at more than one group if there are several near you, and listings can change frequently.

Hi Debbie, Just to add that if you can't find anything suitable on Craig's List or Freecycle you can also post 'Wanted' ads on them which may increase your chances.
Many supermarket chains have a free small ads board near the checkout tills as well as Post Offices & probably newsagents as well so it's worth checking them all in your area.
