Now, know that cellular division and DNA replication are different things. DNA replication only occurs once for both, but how many celluar divisions are there for each mitosis and meiosis? Thanks!

Mitosis involves one cell division and ends up with two daughter cells.

The reason that meiosis produces 4 is that it is used in the process of producing gametes. This way, gametes have half the number of chromosomes so that when they fertilize together, they will have the same amount.
