You can do something. Vote Democrat in the next election. Call or write your congressman and encourage them to support energy saving measures and green technology. Find ways you can be "green" yourself. WE DO owe it to the children...

The earth isn't dying. We're just in a random warm period. The earth has random warm and cold periods and no one knows why. Lakes arent drying up, The north isn't melting and have you ever been to the midwest. I was in a city once with a population of 9! That's plenty of room, in fact, places like Italy have a declining population because of an extremely low birth rate. just dont worry. Even if stuff was happening, technology progresses and people would learn to live through bad times.

Study the history of the earth. The planet once had no ice at all at the poles and once had ice covering two thirds of it. Ice ages and warming periods come and go, and not in the insignificant span of a few thousand years. More like hundreds of thousands of years. No need at all to worry about what will happen in the next two or three hundred.

Not only that, but did you know that the plastics we use are not truely recyclable? It takes 400-500 years for plastics to decompose, which means virtually all the plastics ever created are still around. Not only that, with each recycling of plastics, it just puts the plastic to a lower level. Plastics can be made into other items, but for example with a water bottle, when it is recycled, that plastic cannot be used to make another water bottle but instead is turned into a lower plastic. The population is continually increasing, which leads to more global warming with the increase of CO2 and other green house gases. With more trees being destroyed it could lead to erosion and other things such as eutrophication. It is all a scary thing.

I've already had this discussion earlier today with a shopkeeper who thought that global warming was a lot of fuss over nothing!
I think we all have to take it seriously and play our part!
As each individual and each business we need to start making all the changes we need to in order to preserve our planet!
The Government needs to take the lead in this, making it easier for us to recycle, save energy, find alternative fuels, etc, but ultimately if we don't all do these things now, we won't live to regret it!

I don't worry about it like that. I just recycle what I can and don't leave the water running when I brush my teeth. My Geography Professor told us that if not for global warming, we'd be headed towards another ice age right now...so something's gonna happen to wipe us out just like other species no matter what we do. It's a cycle of the planet.

A lot of people are worried about it.

And a lot of people are doing something about it.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of others who think it is in their own immediate best interest to discourage people from doing it.

However, common sense and science is, ever so slowly, carrying the day.

Maybe not soon enough to save humanity, but we should still have a few cockroaches to carry on...

We have a huge problem to overcome, and we need to start right now !. Fortunately, there is the technology to START to solve the problem, but whether or not it is applied, depends upon ordinary people like us, using our VOTING POWER to stimulate politicians to take meaningful action. This may of course be to the detriment of some very rich & influential
multi-national interests ..............
