Which side of the bed should the husband and the wife sleep?

Is there a rule which says the husband sleeps on the left side of the bed and the wife sleeps on the right side of the bed?

i think there is no rule, i think that maybe the bravest is the one to sleep closest to the door or for other reasons. in our case it is me, i like to sleep close to the door only because i am the one to get up if the kids wake or if the phone rings. i'm also a very light sleeper and wake up for every little noise that i hear. although thinking about it the woman should always be on the mans right side only because she should be his right hand. i guess what works, works.

my 1st marriage I was forced to the left side of the bed until we moved suburbs then he forced me to the right side of the bed , some garbage about the wall and window I dunno he was a bit of a freak. My 2nd marriage we swapped every 12 to 18 months also due to where ever the bed was placed in the room but that was my decision I had a baby and other kid's with nightmare's and such waking up so I had to be closer to the door everytime.

My personal opinion? you should sleep on which ever side you collapse on / into after a wild passionat sex romp and hold onto her tightly.

There is no rule on which side to sleep. For me I would prefer my wife to walk and sleep on my right. People always say wife is always right. So... let her feels that way.

Nope, never heard of a rule. You both should sleep on whichever side you want. I've always slept on the right side =)

There is no rule this needs to be worked out between the couple.Some people like the warmer side like inside wall.Some people need to go to bathroom more often.In my case i need to sleep on my right side because of an condition.(I am single and have an kingzise bed)

Interesting question. I read a study on this years back and found that males tend to sleep closest to the door for "reptilian" reasons (protector) but also found that "dominant" members of the relationship chose to sleep nearest the door. (Fascinating).
PS - One couple slept according to the husband being deaf in one ear. His wife slept close to the door.
I say - sleep which ever makes you comfortable.

I've always slept on the side closest to the door in case I had to get up when the kids were little. That way I didn't have to climb over my husband . Kids are older now, but we still do it that way.

haha, we actually do this. My husband sleeps on the left and I on the right. Thats hilarious, I had no idea there was a rule about that. But I guess we follow it :)
