Maybe, I've seen avatars of people getting drunk and other crap pictures, it doesn't make me feel very highly of the actual person. I know a person's avatar shouldn't mean anything, but i think some people should take themselves more seriously. Other than that, no, an avatar probably wouldn't affect the amount and the quality of the answers you get.

i think in certain cases that could be true.
example: an avatar showing off a pair of boobs will probably get alot of answers.
